Pillar 04 / SEO & AI Search Visibility

Show up in Google. And in ChatGPT.

SEO got you ranked. GEO gets you cited. The buyers asking AI tools 'who's the best at this' are the same buyers who used to Google it. Now AI is choosing the answer for them. We build the technical foundation, the structured content, and the authority signals that make AI engines pick you.

What is GEO, and how is it different from SEO?

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the work that gets you ranked on Google. Keywords, technical health, backlinks, content quality. The fundamentals are unchanged.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) is the new layer on top, the work that makes AI tools recommend your business. When someone asks ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Claude "who's the best B2B [X]?", GEO is what gets you in the answer.

GEO requires schema markup, structured Q&A content, FAQ pages, entity-level optimization, and authority signals that AI engines weight heavily: third-party mentions, podcasts, guest posts, and consistent presence across the web. Most agencies are still running 2019 SEO playbooks. We're building the 2026 stack.

Why does B2B AI search visibility matter now?

Because the buying behavior is already changing. Senior B2B buyers are using ChatGPT and Perplexity the way they used to use Google, to research vendors, shortlist options, and decide who to talk to. If you're not in those answers, you're not in the conversation.

And the window is open. Most of your competitors haven't done this work yet. The B2B firms that move on GEO in 2026 will own AI search results for years. The ones that wait will be playing catch-up the way late-SEO adopters did in the 2010s.

What's included in Howl's SEO & AI search work.

Three layers, working together:

  • SEO foundation: Technical audit, schema markup, on-page optimization, internal linking, content cluster strategy. The fundamentals, done right.
  • GEO / AEO layer: FAQ schema, structured Q&A content, entity optimization, AI-friendly content structure. Built so AI engines can parse and cite your content.
  • Authority & entity building: Third-party mentions, podcast appearances, guest post placements, directory listings, knowledge panel optimization. The signals AI uses to decide who to recommend.
  • Topic clusters & pillar pages: Comprehensive content architecture mapped to your buyer's search journey. Pillar pages, supporting articles, internal linking, all working together.
  • Monthly reporting: Rankings, traffic, citations, AI visibility. Real numbers on what's moving and why.
  • Continuous optimization: Search engines change. AI engines evolve faster. We adjust as the landscape shifts so the work stays current.

How SEO & GEO connect to everything else.

01 / Step

Content feeds it

Every blog post we write is structured for both human readers and AI engines. Schema markup. Q&A format. Topic clustering. Built once, ranks for years.

02 / Step

Outreach amplifies it

When someone you've been talking to in LinkedIn searches your name on Google or asks AI about you, the content is there. The outreach gets stronger because the visibility is real.

03 / Step

CRM measures it

Organic search traffic, AI referrals, content-driven leads: all attributed in the CRM. We can show exactly what SEO and GEO are generating.

04 / Step

Authority compounds

Year one: you start ranking. Year two: you're cited regularly by AI tools. Year three: you're the entity AI engines reach for when buyers ask. The compound effect is real and measurable.

Building the moat while competitors sleep.

Most B2B firms have technical SEO debt and zero GEO work. The competitors who move first on AI search visibility are positioned to own the category for years. We've started this work for several clients. Early clients are seeing AI citation movement within the first 60-90 days.

FAQ

Common questions about SEO & AI Search Visibility

New content typically ranks within 3-6 months. Existing content with technical fixes can move faster, sometimes within weeks. Authority-building (backlinks, mentions, podcast appearances) is a 6-12 month investment that pays off for years.

Real and underway. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google AI Overviews are already pulling from structured content with schema markup, FAQ pages, and authority signals. The work to optimize for these engines is concrete and measurable. It's not hype. It's what most agencies haven't caught up to yet.

No reputable agency can. Anyone who guarantees a #1 ranking is selling you something. What we can guarantee is the work: technical SEO done right, content structured for both Google and AI, authority signals being built systematically. Rankings follow consistent execution.

Not necessarily. Squarespace has limitations (root-directory access, schema flexibility) but we've made it work. If your platform is genuinely blocking growth, we'll tell you. For most B2B firms, the platform isn't the bottleneck. The lack of structured content is.

Mostly terminology. AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) and GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) overlap heavily, both refer to optimizing for AI tools that synthesize answers rather than just listing links. We use the terms interchangeably. The work is the same: structured content, schema, authority, entity-level optimization.

Because the label matters less than the outcome. GEO, AEO, AI search optimization - the terminology is still evolving and everyone calls it something slightly different. What we're optimizing for is simple: when a buyer asks an AI tool who does what you do, your business shows up in the answer. We call it AI Search Visibility because that's the plain-language goal.
